Dr Heinz Kohrs
BVSc - Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Full time veterinarian in Pongola. A conservationist and businessman. He is a co-owner of the elephants in the Pongola Game Reserve. Together, with his family, runs a very successful five star Game Lodge, White Elephant Safari Lodge.
Diploma in Project Management obtained from NewPort University. He is a businessman residing in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. He has various interests in different companies in South Africa and his main focus is in the biomass renewable energy field. Jasper has been a Trustee of Space for Elephants Foundation since 2004.
A graduate Electronics Engineer. Diploma in Ecology. Discovered emerald deposits in Zambia, which led to involvement with community development projects. Achieved the I.B.C, Cambridge, England award for his “outstanding contribution to knowledge and understanding”. Founding member of the local community radio board, and other tourism and conservation forums. A dedicated Rotarian with 40 years in service.
Dr Marion Garaï
MSc from the University of Zürich, Switzerland, with specialisation in animal behavior. PhD on “The Development of Social and Stress Related Behaviors of Translocated Juvenile Elephants”, University of Pretoria. Member of the IUCN/SCC African Elephant Specialist Group since 1994. Founder of the Translocated Elephant Information Centre (TEIC) in 1992, which was incorporated into the Elephant Management & Owners Association - EMOA- in 1994.
A Business man residing in Limpopo province with General Management experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Financial and Construction Industries.. 30 years Veteran of Nature Conservation Projects. Honorary Ranger at Kruger National Park and SANParks. Author of Silent Giants of Southern Africa and Desert Giants of Namibia.
Dulcie has incredible dedication to sustainable tourism, having traveled extensively in Namibia, Zambia and Botswana her passion for the bush and its people started in childhood. Dulcie’s financial management and tourism industry knowledge brings a strong product background to her marketing activities for the trust.
